Empire-owned Farm Boy has purchased Ottawa’s Rideau Bakery.
The family-owned bakery, known for its kosher breads, rolls and
pastries, shut its doors Canada Day weekend after nearly 90 years in
business. According to a CBC News story,
owners Louis Kardish and David Kardish made the decision to close its
two locations “for a combination of business and health reasons.”
As part of the deal, Rideau Bakery products will be sold exclusively
at Farm Boy stores in the nation’s capital and across the province.
