SAQ tells government it doesn't have the space to take back empties

SAQ president says it would be "impossible" for its 404 stores to process and store the number of empty bottles a deposit charge would create.
If the provincial government decides to charge a deposit on bottles of wine and spirits, the Société des alcools du Québec will co-operate, a legislative committee was told on Monday.
But the head of the Crown corporation that oversees liquor sales in the province says there simply isn’t enough room in its outlets to accommodate the expected inflow of empty bottles.
SAQ president Catherine Dagenais told the commission – which is examining the issue of recycling – it would be “impossible” for its 404 stores to process and store the number of empty bottles a deposit charge would create.
